The End of the Road, Part 2

by Margaret on February 19, 2022

What a difference a week makes and especially with our chaotic weather patterns.  A week ago, when snowshoeing Meech Creek, it was solidly covered by ice and snow.  So solid we felt confident.  Because of the solid surface we easily accessed the other side of the creek and explored that area on a well-used unofficial trail.  I was exhilarated and looked forward to exploring that area again.

I returned yesterday, exactly one week later, after a day of heavy rain followed by a night of falling snow.  The snow was so beautiful, and I was looking forward to exploring that trail again.  I had no idea that the creek would be impassable because of all that rain. The creek was flowing water as if it were springtime.  Such a disappointment.  Will it freeze again and allow exploration again?

Here are some photos of the creek, sadly for me, flowing in mid-February.
